The problem
January should not start with a year of payments to reconstruct
Payments to subs live in a mix of checks, transfers and apps. By tax season nobody remembers who was paid for which job, and the 1099s are rebuilt from bank statements.
Each payment to a person lands in the profit of the job it was for, so labor is a real cost on every job.
How it works
- 01
Put the crew on record
Add each person as an employee (W-2) or a subcontractor (1099), with pay rate, tax ID and documents.
- 02
Record what you pay
A payment to a person is recorded with the job, the method and the date, and adds up on their profile.
- 03
Report in one click
Labor by job, who was paid for what, and the 1099-NEC numbers for each subcontractor as a CSV.
What you get
Employees and subs
Status, type and 1099 flags for each person. Active, inactive and let go, in one directory.
Pay rates and tax IDs
Rates, SSN or EIN and documents on the profile, with the fields the 1099-NEC needs.
Payments to a person
Recorded with the job and the method. Card payments are left out of the 1099-NEC, as the IRS requires.
Labor by job
What you paid for each job, by person, so the job's profit includes labor.

Roles and access
Owners see everything. Admins run jobs without seeing money. Workers see only their own jobs and profile.

Crew pay & 1099: questions
Does Artemian file the 1099s for me?
No. It gives you the 1099-NEC numbers for each subcontractor as a CSV, for you or your accountant to file.
Are card payments to subcontractors on the 1099-NEC?
No. Payments made by card are reported by the card company on a 1099-K, so the report leaves them out.
Do crew members see my numbers?
No. A worker sees only their own jobs and profile. An admin can run jobs without seeing payments.
Is crew management an extra charge?
No. It is part of the same plan as estimates, invoices and payments. Founding members pay nothing per month for the first 60 days.
